Although Spring Cleaning may be far behind us as we move closer to fairing June 2022 well, the season to tackle some of those home maintenance projects is upon us. As the kids begin enjoying their summer vacations, the temptation is very real to blow off certain projects and go enjoy time in the sun, but now is not the moment for procrastination! With Independence Day just around the corner, this article will help you plan out your time and see some of those projects get moved from the back burner and into the forefront!
1) Paint
Painting is one of the easiest – and least expensive – ways to transform your room. A fresh coat of paint can completely change the vibe in any room, and brighten up your interior space significantly making it much more inviting and cozy for holiday guests! Not sure if you have the time to paint an entire room? No worries, just start out with the trim. Adding a new trim color that balances well with the color of your space will increase depth and ultimately give the impression that the room is larger than it appears.
2) Attend Local Art Shows
Alright, so if this article is up your alley, it’s likely that you can’t afford a Picasso. Neither can I. However, you can visit local up-and-coming artist showcases to find your new favorite piece. A great way to do this is to contact your local college or university art department to see if there are any upcoming shows where you can get an original piece of art inexpensively.
3) Splurge On Fixtures You Use The Most
If you have a large family, splurging on a more expensive sofa might be a good call. Cheaper sofas won’t hold up very well, nor will they have nearly as long of a life before needing to be replaced. Get that more expensive sectional, and utilize box store furniture for your accent pieces.
4) “Shop” Your Own Home
If buying that super expensive sofa or sectional is just out of the question at this point, “shop” your own home. By this, what I mean is to rearrange pieces you already have to make a new and exciting interior space! Rearranging furniture, or even moving furniture from one room into a totally new space, can reinvent certain pieces and bring a new flow and energy to your space that it may have been lacking before. We all have plenty of pieces that can be reused in different ways to extend the life span of said piece. Get creative!
5) Flea Markets Help Create Atmosphere
Some really unique and cool finds can be had when visiting Flea Markets and Antique Stores! If you are looking to change the aesthetic of you interior spaces on a budget, I would definitely recommend getting thrifty. Whether using unique pieces to get crafty and design a totally on-of-a-kind piece, or to accentuate certain areas of your home, you can find a lot of charm when using thrift items. Small touched and changes can totally change the mood of your interior space, and can be used to hide any imperfections.
Do you have an idea on how to brighten up your interior space that wasn’t mentioned above? Share it with the class! We are always looking for new ways to create inviting interior space!
